IOAA 2013, Наблюдения, нощен тур — Задача 2
7th International Olympiad on Astronomy & Astrophysics, 27 July – 5 August 2013, Volos Greece — Observational test · 27 юли 2013 г.
Указания
When you arrive at the telescope, you will be provided with suitable equipment and shown how to use it. You will also be given the answer form. Fill in your student code number before starting the questions.
Условие

Without using the setting circles of the telescope, complete the following tasks:
(a) bring the bright star (m = 3.51 mag) γ Sagitta (RA = , Dec = +19° 29′ 31.5″) to the centre of view of the telescope. Ask the attendant to verify the observation. [3 т.]
(b) bring the famous Dumbell Nebula, M27 (RA = , +22° 43′ 16.09″) to the center of the field of view. Ask the attendant to verify the observation. [5 т.]
Решение
Answer: (1) The student should recognize the constellation of Sagitta and point the telescope at γ Sagitta, which is the brightest star of the constellation. (3 point)
(2) The students should notice that the two targets have very similar Right Ascension. Therefore given the RA and Dec of the bright star γ Sagitta (m = 3.51 mag), should be able to quickly locate M27 as the equatorial mounting is already aligned. Then should keep the RA axis locked, release the Dec knob and turn the telescope by about 3.25 degrees towards Polaris. The Dumbell Nebula will appear in the field of view. (5 point)
[Marking scheme: Points given according to time spent. Total time required: ≤4 min: 100%, ≤5 min: 80%, ≤6 min: 50%.
[Maximum allowed time 6 minutes]
(Note: If the student fails to locate M27 and complains, the attendant does it 30 s and he notes this down)
