Условие

A tape is 8 cells long and 1 cell wide. Cells of the tape contain numbers 4, 9, 20, 17, -9, 9, 20, 17 in this order. Two players play a game. By turns each player cuts off either leftmost or rightmost cell and takes the cut cell. At the end of the game the number of points got by the player is the sum of numbers on all taken cells. How many points can the first player guarantee himself regardless of the opponent strategy?
