Условие

Take two glass prisms separated by a small gap. Investigate under what conditions light incident at angles greater than the critical angle is not totally internally reflected.

Two right-angle glass prisms forming a square, separated by a narrow diagonal gap running from the upper left to the lower right corner; the upper prism is labelled 'Glass prism' and the lower prism 'Glass prism'. A ray from a point source S enters from the left, reaches the gap and splits into a transmitted ray continuing to the right and a reflected ray going downward.
