Условие
There is a planet without an atmosphere. The acceleration of free fall on its surface is a=10,0m/s2. Two balls are thrown simultaneously from its surface from a point with Cartesian coordinates (x,y)=(0,0) with one and the same speed v0 (x is the horizontal axis, y is the vertical axis). The angles of throw for the first and second balls are respectively α and β. Two photos are made during their flight. The coordinates of the first ball on the first photo and on the second photo are respectively (x1,y1) and (x2,y2).
A) Obtain a formula y=f(x) for the trajectory of the first ball expressed in terms of the given quantities x1,y1,x2,y2. [6 т.]
B) If (x1,y1)=(5,0m,9,0m) and (x2,y2)=(15,0m,21,0m), find the values of α (or its trigonometric function) and v0. [3 т.]
C) Obtain the formula for the horizontal distance L of the flight (expressed in terms of a, v0 and α) of the first ball and calculate its value. [3 т.]
D) It turned out that the flight distance L of the second ball is the same. Express β through α. [2 т.]
E) Calculate the moments t1 and t2 (after the throw) when the first and second photo were taken. [3 т.]
F) Calculate the coordinates (x1′,y1′) and (x2′,y2′) of the second ball on the first and second photo, respectively. [5 т.]
G) Calculate how long it took the first ball to fall after the second (the time delay T). [3 т.]
F) (x'1, y'1) = (10,0 m; 4,0 m); (x'2, y'2) = (30,0 m; 6,0 m)
G) 2.2 s

A) The motion of the first ball along the x-axis is uniform: =v0cosαt. (1) (0.5 p) The motion of the first ball along the y-axis is with constant acceleration a: y=v0sinαt−21at2. (2) (0.5 p) Expressing t from Eq. (1) and substituting the result in (2): =tanαx−2v02cos2αax2. (1.0 p) (3) Lets A=tanα and =2v02cos2αa. Then (3) is transformed to y=Ax−Bx2. (4) Substituting in (4) the two positions of the first ball on the photos: y1=Ax1−Bx12 (5) and y2=Ax2−Bx22 (6). Multiplying Eq. (5) by x22 and Eq. (6) by x12 and subtracting them, we obtain y1x22−y2x12=Ax1x2(x2−x1). Then A=x1x2(x2−x1)y1x22−y2x12 (7). (1.5 p) Similarly, multiplying Eq. (5) by x2 and Eq. (6) by x1 and subtracting them, we obtain y1x2−y2x1=Bx1x2(x2−x1). Then B=x1x2(x2−x1)y1x2−y2x1. (1.5 p) (8) Finally, the formula for the trajectory is y=x1x2(x2−x1)y1x22−y2x12x−x1x2(x2−x1)y1x2−y2x1x2. (9) (1.0 p)
B)tanα=A=x1x2(x2−x1)y1x22−y2x12=5.15(15−5)9.152−21.52=2. α≈63.4∘. (1.0 p) As cos2α1≡tan2α+1, then B=2v02a(A2+1) and v0=2Ba(A2+1). (10) B=x1x2(x2−x1)y1x2−y2x1=5.15(15−5)9.15−21.5=0.0040m−1. Then using (10), v0=2.0,0410(22+1)=25,0m/s. (2.0 p)
C) From (3) it follows 0=tanαL−2v02cos2αaL2=L(tanα−2v02cos2αaL). (0.5 p) Then L=a2tanαcos2αv02=a2sinαcosαv02. (11) (0.5 p) As tanα=2, then cosα=51 and sinα=52. Substituting in (11), L=1025251252=50.0m. (2.0 p)
D) From Eq. (11) it follows =a2sinαcosαv02=asin(2α)v02. (0.5 p) As L(α)=L(β), then sin(2α)=sin(2β), 2β=π−2α, β=2π−α. (12) (1.5 p)
E) From (1) t1=v0cosαx1=25.515=51s≈0.45s, (1.5 p)t2=v0cosαx2=25.5115=53s≈1,34s. (1.5 p)
F) Calculate the coordinates (x1′,y1′) and (x2′,y2′) of the second ball on the first and second photo, respectively.
From (1) and (12) x1′=v0cosβt1=v0sinαt1=v0cosαv0sinαx1=tanαx1=2.5=10,0m. (1.0 p)
From (2) and (12) y1′=tanβx1′−2v02cos2βax1′2=tanαx1′−2v02sin2αax1′2=210−2.252(52)210.102=4,0m. (1.5 p)
From (1) and (12) x2′=v0cosβt2=v0sinαt2=v0cosαv0sinαx2=tanαx2=2.15=30,0m. (1.0 p)
From (2) and (12) y2′=tanβx2′−2v02cos2βax2′2=tanαx2′−2v02sin2αax2′2=230−2.252(52)210.302=6,0m. (1.5 p)
g) (3 points) Calculate how long it took for the first ball to fall after the second (the time delay T).
From (1) T=v0cosαL−v0cosβL(0.5p)=v0cosαL−v0sinαL=v0L(cosα1−sinα1)(1.0p)=2550(5−25)≈2,2s. (1.5 p)
